Trek to Thalaiyar falls - Kodaikkanal

Kodiakkanal - The enchanting hills of South India. Thalaiyar (Thalyar or Thalayar) falls is located in an un-motorable reach. Also known as Rat-Tail falls. This is the tallest waterfall in Tamil Nadu, with a height of 975 feet. A trip to Kodai would not be complete without a trek to this wonderful location, even though most tourists generally are content to have a view from the road. The location itself is a trekkers' paradise and the grilling route (particularly the return) through dense bear shola forests provides excellent excitement for the nature lover.

Trekkers who have visited this place, please share your experience

  • i have also enjoyed seeing such falls during my railway trek in shakleshpur, kukke subramanya route. IF you want to see the nature in its fullest, u must take this trek. Nature Adventure, a organisation in Malleswaram, Bangalore arrranges for this trek. Its a little adventurous, as you have to trek in an unused railway track over bridges and caves and its surely not fitted for the weak hearted.
